Egypt and Russia also signed the Comprehensive Cooperation Program, which includes collaboration in several fields such as the peaceful nuclear sector and medical applications, including the production of radioactive isotopes used in cancer treatment.
During the ceremony, President Putin highlighted the significance of the project, noting that the first reactor unit alone will add 35,000 kilowatts of electricity to Egypt’s power grid.
Speaking during a visit to the project site on Wednesday, Madbouly stated that the facility will comprise four nuclear reactors with a total generation capacity of 4,800 megawatts, and that construction is progressing in line with the planned timeline.
